FAQs Antique Building Products

1) What widths and thickness of flooring do you offer?

Our standard flooring is 3/4” or 1/2” thick. Our widths run from 2-1/2” – 11” in a single or random width face. We will also mill to any thickness you may need for such features as ceilings, lofts and porches.

2) Is installation of antique wood difficult?

Technically no, it is installed the same way as any hardwood flooring. Due to the nature of this product, a higher level of planning and thought may be required to achieve the desired effect.

3) How do I install a random width plank floor?

Unless otherwise specified, our flooring is shipped in random widths of fairly equal square footage each, not linear feet. It is important that these widths be installed randomly. If the floor is installed in a repeating pattern, you will run out of certain widths before the floor is finished. If a repeating pattern is desired, it must be specified prior to placing your order.

4) How do you finish this flooring?

You may use the same finish on our antique flooring as you would new flooring such as oil, wax, polyurethane or stain. Some people even prefer to leave it natural without any finish. We will work with you or your designer to help develop the look you have in mind.

5) How far in advance should I place my order?

On an average size job, our standard lead-time is 4-6 weeks. Special orders are often booked 6 months to a year in advance of installation.

Please keep in mind that you should allow 1-2 weeks in your scheduling to let the wood acclimate to your home’s interior before installation.

6) What is the process for placing an order?

Once we’ve received your deposit, your order will be placed in our production schedule. The remaining balance will be due upon completion of your order.

7) How will you ship my order?

We ship worldwide using common carriers. Because we use them so frequently, we have commercial discounts and will shop around for the best price for you.

Please be aware that you will need to make arrangements for the unloading of the material from the common carrier.

8) Do you have material in stock?

Yes, we maintain a standing inventory of our most popular floors. We also have a wide variety of specialty material on hand. Please call for further information.

We hope we have answered any questions you may have. If not, please feel free to call us at 1-800-653-7463.
